After a couple of well earned Saturdays off (I don’t generally work Christmas eve or New Year’s Eve), today was the first day back out “on the road” with the disco.

The occasion? Joanna and John’s wedding reception at The Brook in Soham, a venue I’ve been to on several occasions and absolutely love working in.

It was a long day with the couple opting for a 1pm setup before they and their guests arrived.

Unfortunately my insurance dictates that once the equipment is in place, I have to remain on site….so I settled in for a lot of waiting around.

The guests finally arrived, and a wedding singer they’d hired for the afternoon’s entertainment began his set whilst everyone settled in. handing over to me for a little while whilst he had a well earned rest half way through.

Eventually, speeches and cake cutting out of the way it was time to start the evening party, with around 100 additional guests arriving for this part of the day.

It was an evening of mainly Rock & Roll hits, with just a little modern chart and 80’s thrown in for good measure. I love the Rock & Roll years, so this particular playlist was a real pleasure to work with.

The dance floor was rarely quiet for the entire evening! (something which makes me a VERY happy DJ). Even looking back through the security video, I can’t quite believe how busy it actually was.

Sadly, midnight came around far too quickly and it was time to head for home.

All the best for a long and happy future together Mr & Mrs Smith…..I really enjoyed entertaining you and your guests.
