Congratulations Emma-Jane & Jacob

I absolutely LOVE my job as a wedding DJ!

Each and every single wedding I entertain at is special and unique in it’s own way, and Emma-Jane and Jacob’s wedding reinforced this for me on Saturday night.

The venue? Bedingham’s Farm, a new one for me (it’s only been in business for a short while), and an absolutely gorgeous one at that. Bedingham’s Farm is a barn which has been tastefully converted for events such as weddings and as the name suggests is part of a working farm (yes…you can go and wander around the pigs and sheep if you want to!).

It’s like a Tardis as well. The size and shape from the outside is deceiving when you walk through the doors and see the sheer size of the barn – it’s huge (it will happily seat around 150 people and has a mezzanine lounge area at each end for guests who want to go somewhere a little quieter during the evening celebrations).

Anyway – back to the wedding itself!

Emma-Jane and Jacob provided the soundtrack to the evening with a full playlist. Some DJs won’t allow this because it’s seen as being restrictive. I don’t have any real problem with it, but won’t always guarantee that it will have your guests dancing. It wasn’t the case with this one.

What did worry me was the styles of music on the list. Hard rock, metal, punk and rap (there were other genres too), don’t normally sit well with most wedding guests, and although I don’t mind listening to those genres, I’m certainly no specialist. In fact a list with artists and songs I’ve never heard of makes me nervous because I’m not familiar with the “shape” of the music (i.e. how it mixes, blends and follows through to the next track).

That said – I prepared long in advance. I spent days listening to the entire playlist (they’d actually selected nearly 9 hours worth of music), just to familiarise myself with what was what (it’s all part of preparing for a wedding).

On the night – I needn’t have worried. The guests were absolutely superb and well and truly up for the party.

First dance done and dusted, the ties came off and were quickly re-tied around heads (and yes dear reader – I followed suit and did exactly the same…when in Rome after all ;). ). This was followed by much jumping and waving of hands in the air to pretty much everything I played! A fantastic night!

Not for the first time in recent months, I left with a huge, beaming smile on my face happy that I’d provided EXACTLY the type of entertainment that was required. It’s what I do best!

So, all the best for a long and happy future together Mr & Mrs Grace. It was a real pleasure to entertain you and your guests,

Let's talk!
