Wedding DJ at Bedingham’s Farm Wedding Venue: Sarah & Bryan

WOW! What an AWESOME night!

In fact, Sarah & Bryan’s evening reception is the type of party I live for!

Let’s step back in time a little bit…..cue the Scooby Doo wobbly bit as we go back in history…..

I first met this lovely couple in March 2017….yes… TWO YEARS before today’s big day. It happens….a lot!

Many emails and another planning meeting later, and today’s the day. Sarah & Bryan got “married” at Bedinghams Farm just down the road from where I live.

I say “married” because, well…they cheated a little bit.

They actually did the legal bits in a private ceremony a few weeks ago ( as my own sister did last year ), and opted for a humanist ceremony on the day.

It’s something that’s becoming more and more popular! It’s a lot more personal and takes the legal side of things away from a day of celebrating and having fun!

We sat in a pub in Cambridge city centre working out the details of how the end of their big day was going to be over a pint of diet Coke.

The plans didn’t change too much between now and then! There was to be lots of dancing, and a heavy-metal set for Bryan and his friends…no problem!

It’s been a couple of years since I’ve been to this hidden treasure in the Fens . They only do 10 weddings a year between May & September, so bookings here are actually quite rare, but very enjoyable!

So, to the evening bit where I come in. What’s to say…it was an absolutely AWESOME night as promised.

The playlist had been made up from requests in the wedding acceptances..and there were a LOT of them. I was booked for a 5-hour set and could have played for 8. Add to this the requests on the night and it was always going to be a good one! The heavy-metal set for Bryan and his friends went down an absolute treat!

The final song of the night came around much too quickly for my liking, but it’s always best to end on a high note and leave the guests wanting more from experience.

I’d had a full dance floor all night and Sarah & Bryan were both tired after a long and stressful day – and I always do what my Bride and Groom want.

I could have carried on for a couple of more hours without breaking sweat…….it’s your day though and I do what YOU want me to do!

There were technical problems….lots of them. Both myself and the photographer were experiencing massive problems with our wireless equipment, in his case his remote flash-guns, in my case, my lighting programmes.  My lighting has various different programmes which are used to help set the mood of the evening. Despite exhausting all three of my backup solutions, nothing worked to resolve this issue so I had to resort to using the manufacturer’s in-built programmes. Not ideal (at least from where I stand), but it meant that the party continued with a light show….and although Sarah and Bryan were aware of the problems I’d been experiencing, nobody actually noticed anything amiss (phew!)

What caused the problems? We don’t know. It may have been wireless interference, it may have been down to the barn being a corrugated iron structure and blocking the signals. What I DO know is that testing everything the next morning at home….it all works flawlessly!

The Playlist

As already mentioned, the playlist was made up entirely of requests from Sarah & Bryan and their guests. Genres jumped around more than a little bit, but it worked very well on the night with a lot of DJ skills!
