If you’ve been to a wedding at Bedingham’s Farm Barn, you already know. There’s something about this place — the exposed timbers, the fairy lights, the fields stretching out beyond the barn doors — that creates an atmosphere most venues spend a fortune trying to manufacture. It’s the real thing, and it shows.

Set in the beautiful Cambridgeshire countryside near Sutton, Bedingham’s Farm Barn is one of those venues that draws couples who want a wedding that feels genuinely warm and personal. Angela and Neil have created something special here, and I’ve been fortunate enough to be part of many, many weddings at the barn over the years.

I know this venue inside out. I know how the barn sounds, how the space fills, and what it takes to keep a dance floor going from the first song to the last. Spoiler: it doesn’t take much when the room is right — and at Bedingham’s, the room is always right.

One thing worth knowing before you book: Bedingham’s Farm Barn is not licensed for wedding ceremonies, so I’m available here for the reception and evening only. That means either the All Day Experience (joining after your ceremony elsewhere and staying through to the last song) or Evening Only. Both work brilliantly in this space.

The barn traditionally opens from May to September, so if you’re planning a summer wedding in Cambridgeshire, this is one to get on your radar early. Dates go quickly.

Bedingham’s Farm Barn sits at The Gault, Sutton, Ely — a stunning rural setting in the heart of Cambridgeshire. It’s a working farm venue with a genuinely beautiful barn space that lends itself perfectly to relaxed, character-filled weddings. The natural materials, the outdoor spaces, and the open countryside setting make it one of the most photographed venues in the area.

It’s the kind of venue where smoke and haze effects genuinely come into their own — watching a haze-filled barn lit up with warm fairy lights and a full dance floor is something couples and guests talk about long after the night is over. And yes, smoke and haze are very much welcomed here.

Which Setup Works Best Here

Bedingham’s Farm Barn is one of those venues where the rustic setups feel completely at home. The exposed timber, the natural textures, and the warm barn atmosphere suit a setup that matches that character rather than contrasting with it.

Rustic Pallet — A wooden booth dressed with fairy lights and a wagon wheel. It’s made for a venue like this. The warm glow of the fairy lights against the barn timbers creates an atmosphere that’s genuinely hard to beat, and the whole setup feels like it belongs rather than was hired in. Perfect for couples going for that relaxed, festival-barn vibe.

Rustic Sack Cloth — A softer take on the rustic look. Same warmth and character as the Pallet setup but with a slightly more relaxed, understated feel. Works beautifully for couples who love the rustic aesthetic but want the setup to sit quietly in the background rather than make a statement.

Add the smoke and haze and you’ve got a dance floor that looks as good as it feels. It’s one of my favourite combinations at any venue — and Bedingham’s is one of the few places where you can really go for it.

What to Expect on the Day

I arrive well ahead of time, set up carefully, and make sure everything is tuned to the barn before your guests arrive. That includes getting the haze levels right — enough to create that magical lit-up atmosphere without overdoing it. It’s a detail that makes a real difference to how the dance floor looks and feels, and it’s one of the things Bedingham’s genuinely allows you to do properly.

Before the day, we’ll have a proper conversation about your crowd and your music. My online planning portal lets you map out your evening, build your playlist, and flag anything you’d rather not hear. I’ll take all of that and use it as a guide — reading the room on the night and adapting as the energy builds.

I’m also happy to take requests on the night. As Vicky and Sam will tell you, I’ll do my best to work through as many as possible — fitting them in at the right moment rather than just playing them in order.

Available Packages at Bedingham’s Farm Barn

As Bedingham’s Farm Barn is not licensed for wedding ceremonies, I offer two packages here:

All Day Experience — From £1,500 — I join after your ceremony (held elsewhere) and stay right through to the last song. Background music for drinks and food, MC duties throughout the day, seamless transition into the evening, and a dance floor that doesn’t need bribing. One point of contact all day.

Evening Only — From £800 — I arrive early, set up discreetly, and take over as your evening DJ. Reading the room, responding to your guests, and keeping the dance floor full from the first track to the last.
