My top 5 end of the night songs

All good things have to come to an end, and that sadly includes your evening wedding reception.

But how do you end the most awesome party of your lives?

Here’s a little fact for you….most of your guests will remember more about the last hour of the evening party than the rest of it, so it’s important that you end on a high note.

There’s a famous saying in the entertainment industry from one of my heroes, P.T Barnham, which says “always leave them wanting more” (and that doesn’t mean “one more DJ” chants at the end of the night because more often than not I’m not allowed to play one more by law).

Here are my Top 5 end of the night tracks which will leave your guests on a high note and singing as they leave the venue….

5. (I've Had) The Time of my Life - Bill Medley & Jennifer Warnes

A popular show ender and it’s always a winner once the sweet sherries start to take effect.

It’s amazing how many guests will try to emulate the actual dance scenes from Dirty Dancing during this one (including the lift). By the end of the track they’ll all be circling you around the dance floor though and that’s always great to see!

4. Don't Look Back in Anger - Oasis

This one’s a mega long sing-a-long which will make your guests dance around you whilst singing their hearts out!

3. Hey Jude - The Beatles

This one’s an oldie but a goodie.

Trust me, EVERYONE will know the words to this one and weighing in at a massive 7 minutes in length and with a very memorable “nah nah nah nah nah nah nah” chorus (very easy to sing once you’ve had a few sweet sherries!), they’ll be singing this one LONG after I’ve packed the kit up and got into the van!

2. Sweet Caroline - DJ Otzi

Whaaat? Not Neil Diamond?

Nope…DJ Otzi’s rendition is actually the version most guests will know with the “so good so good” chants during the chorus.

Since HM The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations where this song was a part, I’m expecting to see this particular track featured at more and more weddings.

It’s a good old fashioned sing-along where your guests are GUARANTEED to know the words and will happily sing along to the bitter end!

And finally....1. Mr Brightside - The Killers

“It was only a kiss how did it end up like this?”

It’s a song that’s now been done to death in my book but it fills dance floors each and every time it’s played!

This particular track will be requested MANY times during the evening and it’s difficult to leave it to the last song of the evening.

It is however, the most requested last song of the night from most of my wedding couples and I’ll not let you down!

Are you looking to end your big day with a song that your guests will remember for a long time to come?
