Wedding DJ at The Old Bridge Hotel Huntingdon

Huntingdon

The Old Bridge is one of those venues that does a lot of the work for you. Nestled on the banks of the River Great Ouse in Huntingdon, it’s a striking ivy-clad townhouse with over 250 years of history — the kind of place that feels warm and welcoming the moment you walk in. Couples who choose it tend to want an elegant, relaxed day that matches the venue’s character, and that’s something I understand well.

I’ve had the pleasure of working at The Old Bridge on many occasions. I know the function room well, I understand how the space flows between inside and the heated terrace, and I know exactly how to set up so the music sounds right whether your guests are dancing indoors or spilling outside for some air.

I only take one wedding per week, which means when yours is in the diary, you have my complete attention. No back-to-back bookings, no arriving tired from the night before — just a DJ who’s properly prepared and genuinely invested in making your evening everything it should be.

About The Old Bridge

The Old Bridge Hotel sits at 1 High Street, Huntingdon, right on the River Great Ouse — and it’s a genuinely beautiful setting for a wedding. The function room is elegant and intimate, with a contemporary finish that suits a clean, understated setup perfectly. Leading directly onto a heated terrace, it creates a natural flow between the party inside and the outdoor space, which means guests can move freely without losing the atmosphere.

The venue can accommodate entertainment right through the day — from the ceremony at one end of the building, through to background music and MC duties during the reception, and the full evening party in the terrace bar. It’s a versatile space that rewards a DJ who knows it well.

Which Setup Works Best Here

The Old Bridge has a contemporary, elegantly styled interior — which means the setup needs to complement it rather than compete with it. Having worked here many times, I’ve found two setups that sit particularly well in this space.

Modern White — This is my go-to for The Old Bridge. Everything facing the dance floor is white, which sits cleanly against the venue’s contemporary décor without drawing attention away from the room itself. Computer-controlled lighting adjusts to the moment — subtle during dinner, more alive once the dancing starts. Heart projections are available for the first dance, with an optional glitter ball for the slower songs.

Marble — A slightly chunkier booth with a strong presence. It works equally well at The Old Bridge for couples who want something with a bit more visual weight. Solid, stylish, and built for a full day of use. Heart projections are available for the first dance here too.

Both setups are discreet enough not to dominate the room, but polished enough to look like they belong there. I’d steer away from the rustic options at this venue — they’re brilliant elsewhere, but the contemporary finish at The Old Bridge calls for something cleaner.

What to Expect on the Day

I arrive early, set up quietly, and make sure everything is in place before your guests arrive. At The Old Bridge, that means thinking carefully about speaker placement to cover both the function room and the terrace comfortably, and making sure the lighting enhances the room rather than overwhelming it.

During the evening I’ll read the room, respond to your crowd, and keep things moving naturally between inside and outside. Weddings rarely run exactly to schedule and that’s completely fine — I’m used to adapting on the fly and you’ll never feel the difference.

Before the day, we’ll have a proper conversation about your music tastes, your crowd, and the moments that matter most to you. My online planning portal makes that process easy — you can map out your day, add must-play tracks, and flag anything you’d rather not hear, all in one place.

Packages

I offer three packages for weddings at The Old Bridge — from evening-only right through to full ceremony and reception cover. Given the venue’s layout and the ability to provide entertainment from ceremony through to the evening party, the All Day Experience and Ceremony to Carriages packages are particularly well suited here.
