Wedding DJ At Forest Lodge Weddings Brandon Suffolk
There are wedding venues. And then there are wedding experiences.
Forest Lodge Weddings is firmly in the second category. Set in secluded private woodland at Little Lodge Farm in the heart of Thetford Forest, it’s the kind of place that makes couples feel like they’ve found something genuinely special — because they have. Outdoor ceremonies beneath a canopy of ancient trees. Tipi receptions in the meadow. The smell of the forest and the sound of birdsong as the backdrop to the most important day of your life.
I’ve had the pleasure of working at Forest Lodge Weddings, and it’s a venue that stays with you. The atmosphere is completely unlike anything a traditional function room or hotel ballroom can offer. It’s wild and beautiful and completely its own thing — and the couples who choose it tend to know exactly who they are and what they want. Which makes my job considerably more interesting.
What Makes Forest Lodge Special
The setting, first and foremost. Thetford Forest is one of the largest lowland forests in the UK, and Little Lodge Farm sits right in the heart of it. The woodland ceremony space is fully licensed for legal marriages — so you can actually get married under the trees, not just have photos there. That’s rarer than you’d think.
The tipi reception is where the evening comes alive. The traditional Nordic giant hat tipis create a space that manages to feel both expansive and intimate at the same time — warm lighting against the canvas, the forest just beyond the edges, and a dancefloor that has a completely different energy to anything inside four solid walls.
It’s an exclusive use venue too, with a capacity of around 80 guests — perfectly suited to smaller, more intimate celebrations where everyone in the room genuinely knows and loves the couple, and the atmosphere reflects that from the moment the evening begins.
Playing a Woodland Wedding
Every venue has its own acoustic character and Forest Lodge is no exception. Playing in a tipi is a completely different proposition to playing in a barn or a hotel ballroom. The canvas creates a warm, contained sound environment that works beautifully for dancing — but it requires a DJ who knows how to set levels appropriately and understands how the space behaves.
The natural setting also tends to attract couples with genuinely eclectic music taste — people who aren’t interested in a generic wedding playlist and want something that actually reflects them. Which is exactly the kind of brief I enjoy most.
How the Evening Flows at Forest Lodge
Forest Lodge weddings tend to have a relaxed, festival-like energy. The outdoor setting means the transition from ceremony and drinks into the tipi reception feels natural and unhurried. Guests move between inside and outside throughout the night, the dancefloor builds gradually, and the whole evening has a warmth and spontaneity that more formal venues sometimes struggle to achieve.
My job is to read all of that and work with it rather than against it. If the crowd needs more time before the floor opens, I give it more time. If the energy is building faster than expected, I move with it. The plan is always a starting point, never a straitjacket.
What Couples Say
“What a fantastic evening of dancing we had at our wedding. Wayne was so polite, friendly and professional the whole time and did a fantastic job keeping everyone dancing. I just knew he would have everything set up on the day and it was one less thing to worry about. Would definitely recommend him.”
— Sarah & Nigel, Forest Lodge Weddings
That last part — “one less thing to worry about” — is something I hear from couples regularly. And it matters. Wedding planning is stressful enough without having to chase suppliers for basic information. My job is to be the thing you don’t have to think about, so you can focus on everything else.
