Wedding DJ at The Old Hall Ely
A grand Jacobean manor. Lakeside views. The most memorable dance floors in Cambridgeshire.
There are venues you work at occasionally. And then there’s The Old Hall Ely.
Of all the weddings I’ve had the privilege of being part of across Cambridgeshire, Norfolk, and Suffolk, more have taken place here than anywhere else. And every time I pull up to this grand Jacobean manor — just six miles from home, with its lakeside setting and views toward the magnificent Ely Cathedral — I understand exactly why couples keep choosing it.
The Old Hall Ely is the kind of venue that makes everything feel significant. The architecture, the grounds, the history — it all adds up to a backdrop that turns a wedding into something genuinely extraordinary. Featured in Vogue, and with good reason.
I know this venue better than any other on my patch. I know how the rooms sound, how the space fills, how the energy builds from early evening into a full dance floor. When you book me for The Old Hall, you’re getting someone who has played here more times than he can count — and who still looks forward to every single one.
About The Old Hall Ely
Nestled within an idyllic setting just outside historic Ely in Cambridgeshire, The Old Hall is a grand Jacobean manor house that has been welcoming weddings, events, and celebrations for years. With romantic lakeside views, awe-inspiring glimpses of Ely Cathedral, and interiors that balance historic grandeur with contemporary elegance, it’s consistently one of the most sought-after wedding venues in the region.
The venue offers weddings, private events, stays, and dining — and the team there bring an exceptional level of care and professionalism to every event. As a supplier who has worked alongside them many times, I can say with confidence that they make the job of delivering a brilliant evening considerably easier.

Which Setup Works Best Here
The Old Hall is a versatile venue that works beautifully with several of my setups — and having played here so many times, I’ve had the chance to try them all. The right choice depends on your style and the feel you’re going for.
Modern White — The clean, contemporary look that sits elegantly against the grandeur of the manor’s interiors. Everything facing the dance floor is white, the computer-controlled lighting adjusts to the moment, and the overall effect is polished and timeless. For couples who want the venue to do the talking and the DJ setup to complement it quietly, this is the one. Heart projections available for the first dance, optional glitter ball for the slower songs.
Marble — A stronger visual presence that holds its own in a room with architectural character. Works particularly well in the larger spaces at The Old Hall where you want the setup to feel substantial. Solid, stylish, and genuinely impressive in a venue of this calibre. Heart projections available for the first dance.
Retro Roadshow — For couples who want something completely different and full of personality. The warm vintage charm of a 70s and 80s mobile disco — fairy lights, real wood DJ booth, nostalgic touches that feel authentic rather than gimmicky. In a venue as characterful as The Old Hall, the retro setup creates something genuinely special. It’s a bold choice, and it pays off.
Not sure which one feels right? I’m happy to talk it through — and having played here more than anywhere else, I have a good sense of what works for different styles of wedding at this venue.
Which Setup Works Best Here
The Old Bridge has a contemporary, elegantly styled interior — which means the setup needs to complement it rather than compete with it. Having worked here many times, I’ve found two setups that sit particularly well in this space.
Modern White — This is my go-to for The Old Bridge. Everything facing the dance floor is white, which sits cleanly against the venue’s contemporary décor without drawing attention away from the room itself. Computer-controlled lighting adjusts to the moment — subtle during dinner, more alive once the dancing starts. Heart projections are available for the first dance, with an optional glitter ball for the slower songs.
Marble — A slightly chunkier booth with a strong presence. It works equally well at The Old Bridge for couples who want something with a bit more visual weight. Solid, stylish, and built for a full day of use. Heart projections are available for the first dance here too.
Both setups are discreet enough not to dominate the room, but polished enough to look like they belong there. I’d steer away from the rustic options at this venue — they’re brilliant elsewhere, but the contemporary finish at The Old Bridge calls for something cleaner.
What Couples Say
“We hired Wayne to DJ our wedding reception. He was very professional and communicative from as soon as we booked two years prior, all the way up to the day. He also had a great website planning tool which really helped us put everything together before the big day. On the evening he brought great energy and ran the set perfectly. Lots of crowd pleasers and requests that really kept the dance floor going all night. We would definitely recommend Imagine Wedding & Party Entertainment.”
Natalie & Alessio Polvere — Evening Only at The Old Hall Ely
Two years between booking and the big day. That’s a long time to trust someone with your wedding entertainment — and the kind of relationship that only works when communication is consistent and genuine from the very first conversation.
What to Expect on the Day
I arrive early, set up carefully, and make sure everything is ready well before your guests move through for the evening. At The Old Hall the setup needs to look as good as it sounds — this is a venue where presentation matters, and I take that seriously.
Before the day, my online planning portal gives you a straightforward way to map out the evening, build your playlist, flag must-play tracks, and add anything to the do-not-play list. Guests can submit requests in advance too. On the night I’ll take those as a guide, read the room, and adapt as the energy builds — keeping the dance floor full without resorting to gimmicks or crowd-baiting tactics.
I’m also very happy to liaise directly with The Old Hall’s team in the run-up to your wedding. Having worked with them many times, that relationship is already there — which means one less thing for you to coordinate.
Available Package at The Old Hall Ely
The Old Hall Ely manage the ceremony and afternoon aspects of your wedding in-house, I can only offer one package here:

Ready to Chat?
If you’re planning a wedding at The Old Hall Ely, I’d love to hear from you. This is the venue I know best of all, and I’d be genuinely happy to share what works well here and how I’d approach your evening.
The Old Hall is one of the most in-demand wedding venues in Cambridgeshire — and popular dates fill up for suppliers just as quickly as they do for the venue itself. Worth checking availability early.
During the evening I’ll read the room, respond to your crowd, and keep things moving naturally between inside and outside. Weddings rarely run exactly to schedule and that’s completely fine — I’m used to adapting on the fly and you’ll never feel the difference.
Before the day, we’ll have a proper conversation about your music tastes, your crowd, and the moments that matter most to you. My online planning portal makes that process easy — you can map out your day, add must-play tracks, and flag anything you’d rather not hear, all in one place.
